Chad Brown Regains Lead in Equibase Trainer Standings, She Feels Pretty Enters Top 100
Racing
Chad Brown tacked on two more graded stakes victories this past weekend at Belmont at the Big A, and with those wins he has edged past Steve Asmussen to lead the Equibase trainer standings by earnings.
Brown won the Sands Point Stakes with Spaliday as well as the Knickerbocker Stakes with Andthewinneris. With $24,270,409 in overall earnings, Brown is followed closely by Steve Asmussen who dropped to second, less than $350,000 behind. Asmussen and Brown have been going head-to-head all year in a battle for first in the standings and there could be further shake-ups among the leaders with the Breeders’ Cup less than three weeks away. Brown is also ranked first by wins (45) and earnings in the graded stakes division.

After a record-setting six-length win in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes Presented by Dixiana at Keeneland, She Feels Pretty has cracked the top 100 in the standings among racehorses. She’s ranked 75th overall and 11th in the 3-year-old fillies division. After finishing second by a neck to Grayosh in the Lake Placid Stakes Presented by Caesars Sportsbook at Saratoga in August, She Feels Pretty has returned to her best form, securing a second Grade 1 victory in her career following a win in the Johnnie Walker Natalma Stakes in fall 2023. The filly by Karakontie has finished in the money in all four starts this year and bankrolled $595,938 in earnings, including wins in the listed Hilltop Stakes and last Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II. She was bought for $240,000 as a yearling by 2006 Eclipse Award Outstanding Owner Lael Stables, who owned that year’s Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro.
Other notable changes in the standings include Highway Robber, who jumped up 20 spots in the standings and is now 41st after his win in the Sycamore Stakes at Keeneland. Highway Robber earned a career-high 120 Equibase Speed Figure in the Sycamore, winning by a nose over Bold Act in a dramatic finish and setting a new course record at Keeneland going 1 ½ miles on the turf in 2:26.08. Future Is Now has also cracked the top 100 in the standings and is ranked 92nd in earnings following his win in Keeneland’s Franklin Stakes for trainer Michael Trombetta. The Maryland-Bred by Great Notion has five wins from nine starts in 2024, accumulating $513,155 in earnings.
There were no significant changes in the jockey standings as Irad Ortiz Jr. remains first by wins and earnings in 2024 followed by Flavien Prat and Tyler Gaffalione. Ortiz Jr., who earned career win 4,000 last Sunday at Keeneland, has accumulated $27,973,646 in earnings, Prat has $27,119,731, and Gaffalione has $24,772,981. Prat might still be second in the overall standings; however he remains first in the graded stakes division having amassed 47 graded stakes victories and $15,998,673 in earnings while winning at an incredible 30%. Gaffalione had yet another fantastic week of riding, with nine wins from 28 starts (32%) and $675,479 in earnings.
