For the sixth year in a row, America’s Best Racing is challenging some of the brightest minds in horse betting to come up with their top three picks for key races every weekend leading up to the 2022 Triple Crown and then continuing through the 2022 Breeders’ Cup World Championships. The handicappers face off in what we like to call the “Big Race Showdown.”

The players’ picks will be posted here and a running bankroll will be kept to track their success all year long. Bankrolls will be tabulated on the basis of $2 exacta and $2 trifecta box bets of each player’s top three selections. We will also be keeping track of which player correctly selects the most winners.

This week's showdown features a trio of Derby preps: the Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway Park, the Arkansas Derby from Oaklawn Park, and the Curlin Florida Derby Presented by Hill 'n' Dale Farms at Xalapa at Gulfstream Park. All three races are major preps for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve, offering 170 qualifying points each. All races will be shown on TVG. The Arkansas Derby will also be televised on FS1 as part of the America's Day at the Races telecast, while the Florida Derby will be shown on CNBC on their Road to the Kentucky Derby coverage. Post time for the Jeff Ruby is 6:23 p.m. ET, the Florida Derby will go postward at 6:38 p.m. ET, and the Arkansas Derby is scheduled to start at 7:35 p.m. ET.
