Preakness Quick Sheet: Get to Know the 2021 Preakness Horses
StableDuel is back this weekend with a huge contest at Gulfstream Park for the Pegasus World Cup card. The contest, sponsored by Angels Envy, offers a guaranteed prize pool of $20,000!
If that’s not enough, Angels Envy is throwing in some very unique prizes as well. StableDuel is a horse racing gambling app that plays similar to a DFS game. You have a salary cap of $50,000 and have to build a stable of 10 horses. The cost of each horse is based on the morning line. You can download the app anywhere that you get your apps on your mobile device. So, let’s dig into the card for Saturday.
In the 1st race, we’re going to spend on a mid-level play here with the #11 Holyanna. The Woodbine shipper comes into this start off of a solid race last out in October. The 5-year-old mare switched barns during the layoff and has been working sharp in the mornings. If this horse is fit, she is a definite player for the win. At a 5-1 morning line, this horse will cost $6,000 on StableDuel.
In the 3rd race, the #11 Junkanoo looks to be the best of this group. For $7,500 on StableDuel, you are getting a horse that we think you could anchor your lineup around. Although this 5-year-old horse hasn’t won since breaking his maiden, he has faced some really tough company over the years that is much better than this group. Tyler Gaffalione gets back aboard and, coupled with the class relief, this horse should earn top points.
In the 4th race, I’m shooting for a price. Although the #1 Performer is going to be really tough to beat, you would have to pay a premium so in this 8-horse field, so we are going elsewhere. The #6 Avant Garde, has run six times at Gulfstream Park with five wins and a second. Although this 4-year-old gelding is stepping up in class, he showed significant improvement in December when running its best speed figure of his career. Another effort like that will have this horse in play for an upset. At 15-1 on the morning line, you can get a huge payoff for only $500 of your salary cap.
Hopefully, these picks will get you off to a good start in the contest and you can bring home a share of the winnings. Remember, your points are awarded based on the horses finishing place and how many lengths it won or lost by. You want your horse to finish fifth or better, so looking for smaller fields to find some value is a strategy that can pay off. Good Luck - we hope to share in the entertainment of a fantastic card from Gulfstream Park over on the StableDuel app.
