#6 Kitten’s Cat: This horse has been claimed (purchased by another owner) three times out of his past five races and has performed for each of his recent connections. He just missed at this level in his most recent start going six furlongs (three-quarters of a mile) and he should enjoy the stretchout to a mile. He’s won three times at this distance and has been in the money in six of his eight starts at a mile. Additionally, he’s always run well over the turf at Belmont and he figures to get a nice setup with a hot pace to run into. I’m anticipating that there could be a three-way go up front between known speedsters #8 Duncastle, #4 Abiding Star and #10 Ian Glass. Kitten’s Cat should be sitting just off of them and have every chance when they turn for home.

#3 I’llhandalthecash: I’m willing to forgive this filly’s most recent start against a deeply-talented group at Kentucky Downs last month. I could also give her a bit of a pass for the race prior since she hit the gate and then was probably a bit closer to a hot pace than she should have been. But if you look at her prior Belmont form, it’s great. She won a comparable stakes race back in July at this exact distance. Jockey Dylan Davis remounts for trainer Ray Handal (for whom the horse is named). Davis was aboard I’llhandalthecash in her maiden score (her first win) and also rode her a few races later where she finished second in an allowance. She looks like one who fits and should get a nice setup from just off the pace.

Strategy on a $10 Budget

$2 win, place and show on #3 I’llhandalthecash ($6)

$2 exacta box 3,6 ($4)

Strategy on a $25 Budget

$4 exacta 6 with 3 ($4)

$1 trifecta box 1,3,6 ($6)
