Located in Shelbyville, about 20 miles southeast of Indianapolis, Horseshoe Indianapolis (formerly Indiana Grand) opened for its inaugural season of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing in 2003, bringing the thrill of live racing to area residents.

Hoosier Park’s parent company, Centaur Gaming, purchased then Indiana Downs in 2013 and changed the name to Indiana Grand and moved all Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing to Indiana Grand. In 2018, Caesars Entertainment purchased Indiana Grand and in 2022, the facility underwent a new name change to Horseshoe Indianapolis to identify with the company’s brand.
The track’s main events, the Grade 3 Indiana Derby and the Grade 3 Indiana Oaks are held during the summer. Live racing is now held from April through November.
In addition to simulcast wagering at Horseshoe Indianapolis year-round, the company also owns a satellite facility in Clarksville, Ind. named Caesars Sportsbook. The facility offers all types of sports wagering in addition to simulcast race wagering.
The track has facilities that can be rented for business entertaining, including trackside suites on the top level. The first floor offers an Off Track Betting facility open year round for simulcast wagering. The second floor provides Clubhouse Dining overlooking the one-mile racetrack and seven-eighths mile turf course.
In addition to the racetrack, Horseshoe Indianapolis offers more than 100,000 square foot gaming floor including more than 1,600 slots and 72 table games along with a state of the art World Series of Poker Room featuring 20 tables. The unique facility also includes a Caesars Sportsbook. The track is owned by Caesars Entertainment. Eric Halstrom serves as the Vice President and General Manager of Racing.
