Saturday’s $1.25 million Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course is shaping up to be a small but strong field and maybe the most important race of the year as it pertains to determining this year's champion 3-year-old male. The 154th edition of the Travers is expected to feature the each of the three winners of the United States Triple Crown races – Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve winner Mage, Preakness Stakes winner National Treasure, and Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets winner Arcangelo – as well as 2022 champion 2-year-old male Forte. A win in the Travers would very likely give any of the four a leg up on the competition in the championship chase.
In advance of important races, America’s Best Racing compiles a slideshow of the Travers contenders with, when available, at least one nice profile image, a workout photo, and a race image to give fans a feel for the personality and athleticism of these wonderful equine athletes.
