Equibase Earnings Leaders: Thorpedo Anna’s Impressive Return Vaults Her Into Top 15
After an exciting Thanksgiving holiday weekend of horse racing that saw the conclusion of fall meets at Churchill Downs and Del Mar, the calendar turns to December, and on cue, two popular race meets are scheduled to kick off for lengthy runs into early spring.
Oaklawn Park, one of the most successful tracks in North America, opens its 2024-’25 meet Friday, Dec. 6. The Hot Springs, Ark., track is known for its premier dirt racing featuring four prep races for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve. Read a preview of the meet here.
In Kentucky, Turfway Park in Florence takes over the racing calendar. Its holiday meet opens Wednesday, Dec. 4 to be followed by a winter/spring meet in 2025, with night racing on tap through late March save for daytime cards on New Year’s Day and on March 22, when the track’s Kentucky Derby prep, the Jeff Ruby Steaks, will be held.
Racing from Turfway along with action from tracks such as Gulfstream Park (which launched its Championship Meet last week), Fair Grounds, Tampa Bay Downs, and Woodbine will be shown live on FanDuel TV and its sister channel FanDuel Racing.
Coverage of Oaklawn Park is showcased along with racing from Aqueduct on NYRA’s “America’s Day at the Races” airing this week from Thursday, Dec. 5, through Sunday, Dec. 8, highlighted by coverage of the Cigar Mile Handicap Presented by Twinspires.com and three other stakes races at the Big A on Saturday, Dec. 7. “America’s Day at the Races” will also broadcast the Mouttet Mile Invitational and other races from Caymanas Park in Jamaica during its Saturday show. The program will air on FS2 this week – check the below schedule for times.
Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.
