Tacos and Trifectas: Blue Grass Longshot
Events / TravelWelcome to Tacos and Trifectas! Each week, America’s Best Racing’s Southern California correspondent Jose Contreras - @LosPonies to those who follow him on Twitter - will provide a taco review along with a selection that he will key in trifecta bets in hopes of winning some cash to buy more tacos! Contreras will map out a trifecta betting strategy for how to key his main pick and keep track of his return on investment (ROI), which was positive in 2017.

This week’s trifecta key:
Saturday, Keeneland, Race 10, $1 million Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, 6:23 p.m. ET
#6 Marconi (15-1 odds): We made him our key in his last start in the Fountain of Youth and he once again broke a bit sluggishly and found himself in last place heading into the first turn. He made a middle move down the backstretch and was caught wide throughout the entire race. He was able to pass a few horses late to finish fifth in what a thought was a fair effort. I still think we have not seen the best of him yet and I’m going to give him one more shot because his price will be even better here. The Gulfstream track was speed-favoring that day and I think he could get a better scenario over this Keeneland surface. Ryan Moore picking up the mount is interesting.
