Tacos and Trifectas: It's a Guy Thing
Events / TravelWelcome to Tacos and Trifectas! Each week, America’s Best Racing’s Southern California correspondent Jose Contreras - @LosPonies to those who follow him on Twitter - will provide a taco review along with a selection that he will key in trifecta bets in hopes of winning some cash to buy more tacos! Contreras will map out a trifecta betting strategy for how to key his main pick and keep track of his return on investment (ROI).
Stop back each week if you love tacos and want a trifecta play!
This week’s eatery:
Chronic Tacos
Cerritos, Calif.
Score: 8.7
The Good:
- Fresh, made-to-order
- Build your own tacos
- Good variety of toppings
- Green salsa had just the right amount of kick
What to Improve:
- $5 for one fish taco is pushing it, at least throw some chips in for that price.
- Tortillas could have been a bit warmer
This week’s Trifecta key:
Saturday, Dec. 9, Los Alamitos Race Course, Race 8, 6:58 p.m. ET
#5 Guy Code (8-1 odds): He’s earned two of his five wins here over this track and the horse-for-course angle plays well here at Los Alamitos. He’s got plenty of early speed and he’s cutting back a furlong in distance compared to his latest outing at Del Mar. I like that he’s drawn right around the middle of the pack in this field of 11 and hopefully that means he won’t be hard used going into the turn.
Strategy on $80 Budget:
$1 Trifecta: 5 with 1,4,6,10,11 with 1,4,6,10,11 ($20)
$1 Trifecta: 1,4,6,10,11 with 5 with 1,4,6,10,11 ($20)
$1 Trifecta: 1,4,6,10,11 with 1,4,6,10,11 with 5 ($20)
$20 Win on #5 Guy Code ($20)
ROI Year to date: $1840 wagered / $2328.50 returned
