Value Engineering

Value Engineering is a horse that has gotten better with age and was never better than he was at the start of his 7-year-old season after a long career of moderate success in allowance races and allowance optional claiming races going distances primarily on the grass. Value Engineering kicked-off his 7-year-old campaign with a second-place finish in the Grade 3 William L. McKnight Stakes going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 28, 2023.  

Value Engineering proved that it's better late than never when he finally earned his first career stakes victory in his 18th career race in the Grade 2 $200,000 Mac Diarmida Stakes going 1 3/8 miles on the turf on March 4 at Gulfstream Park. Value Engineering pressed the pace all the way and went on the attack into the lane until taking charge in mid-stretch and extending to a three-quarters of a length victory in a time of 2:14.20 atop a 12-horse field. 

Value Engineering is trained by Mike Maker. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Lemon Drop Kid out of the mare Frozen Treat by Dynaformer.
