Adare Manor

Adare Manor, an Uncle Mo filly owned by Michael Lund Petersen and trained by Bob Baffert, finished second by a neck in her debut and then fourth in her two starts as a 2-year-old in 2021. She made her 3-year-old debut on Jan. 7, 2022, at Santa Anita Park and dominated a one-mile maiden special weight race by 12 lengths.

Petersen and Baffert sent Adare Manor next to the Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes at Santa Anita on Feb. 6. She once again excelled at the mile distance, dueling for the lead through the backstretch before drawing ahead and extending her margin through the far turn and into the stretch en route to a 13-length runaway.

Adare Manor's next start came in the Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks on Apr. 9. As the odds-on favorite, she rated off the early pace, and although she fought gamely in the stretch, she could not hold off longshot Desert Dawn and ended up second. She had earned enough points to run in the Longines Kentucky Oaks but was instead pointed to the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes for her next start on May 20 at Pimlico, where she finished second. Adare Manor took much of the summer of 2022 off and eventually made her final start of her 3-year-old season in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes on Sept. 24 at Parx, where she finished sixth.

Adare Manor returned for the start of her 4-year-old campaign on Feb. 18, 2023, with a runner-up finish off the layoff in an allowance optional claiming race at Santa Anita. She was then victorious in her next start back at the same condition in a race at Santa Anita on March 31.

Adare Manor notched the second stakes victory of her career in her following race, which came on April 29, 2023, in the Grade 2 $200,000 Santa Maria Stakes. Sent off as the 3-5 favorite in a field of five in the Santa Maria, Adare Manor took control in front early and set a comfortable pace under only token pressure and cruised to victory by 4 3/4 lengths in a time of 1:43.10 for the 1 1/16 miles over a fast track.  

The next start for Adare Manor came in the Grade 2 $200,000 Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita on June 10, and the result was more of the same. Adare Manor took control of the race from the get-go to get the lead as the 0.30-1 favorite in a field of five fillies and mares and went wire to wire to win with ease by 4 1/2 lengths. She ran the 1 1/8 miles on the main track in a winning time of 1:49.79.

Adare Manor continued her winning ways at Del Mar in her next outing, which came in the $400,000 Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes on August 5. Sent off as the 3-5 favorite on the tote board in a five-horse field in the Clement Hirsch, Adare Manor pressed the pace all the way until taking charge at the top of the stretch and kicking onward for the wire to hold off a late-closing threat by a length in a 1 1/16-mile winning time of 1:43.33. The Clement Hirsch is a "win and you're in" race for the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff, meaning that with her victory, Adare Manor locked up her spot in the starting gate in the World Championships Nov. 4 at Santa Anita.

Adare Manor is by the Grade 3-winning Giant Gizmo mare Brooklynsway, who earned more than $720,000 on the track.
