The 2024 season in horse racing featured incredible campaigns from multiple star jockeys as Tyler Gaffalione, Brian Hernandez Jr., Irad Ortiz Jr., and Flavien Prat all put together championship caliber seasons worth of an Eclipse Award.
Gaffalione won seven Grade 1 races and ranks in the top three by purse earnings. Hernandez Jr. won the Longines Kentucky Oaks with Thorpedo Anna and the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve on back-to-back days and later guided Thorpedo Anna to glory in the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff while setting a new career-best for purse earnings. Ortiz is seeking his third straight Eclipse Award as outstanding jockey and sixth overall with more than $31 million in purse earnings, second in North America. Prat leads all ride by purse earnings with more than $35 million, also establishing a new career top in a season that included wins in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes and the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic.
