Phil Sims is the co-owner and trainer of 2014 Spinster winner Don't Tell Sophia, who he owns along with Jerry Namy. Sims grew up on a Kentucky farm and always knew he wanted to be in the Thoroughbred industry, taking out his training license in 1980. As a trainer, he also trained Hot Cha Cha, the winner of the 2009 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup. Don't Tell Sophia was his first Grade 1 winner since that filly's victory.
