First run in 1911, the Churchill Downs Stakes is run annually at Churchill Downs for sprinters 4-years and older going seven furlongs on dirt. Since 1976, the race has had some recognizable names in its winner’s circle with Pleasant Tap, Distorted Humor, D’Wildcat, Speightstown, Shackleford and Private Zone winning it since 1990.
