Poppy Flower

Poppy Flower finished second in her first two career races at Belmont Park in the spring of 2021 before earning her first victory in her third start, prevailing by two lengths in a three-quarter-mile turf sprint June 20 at the Elmont, N.Y., track. She placed in a pair of stakes races before finishing fifth in Grade 3 Futurity Stakes in her final start as a 2-year-old.

The lea filly won two of five starts in 2022 during her 3-year-old campaign, with the highlights being victories in the Stormy Blues Stakes in June at Laurel Park and the Galway Stakes in August at Saratoga Race Course.

Poppy Flower returned from a seven-month layoff in an allowance race April 14, 2023, at Aqueduct and finished third. She followed with a runner-up finish by a half-length in the License Fee Stakes May 7 at Belmont Park.

Poppy Flower was next entered in the Grade 3, $200,000 Intercontinental Stakes June 9 at Belmont. She closed powerfully to catch Bubble Rock, who had defeated her in the License Fee Stakes, by a nose in a thrilling finish for her first graded stakes win.

Stakes-placed winner Nisharora, by Excellent Art, is the dam (mother) of Poppy Flower.
