Kalypso

Kalypso ran third then second in 5 ½-furlong sprints in August and September 2020 at Del Mar to begin her career. She earned her first career win in the Anoakia Stakes Oct. 18 at Santa Anita Park, where the Brody’s Cause filly opened a clear early lead and coasted to a 2 ¼-length score.

Kalypso closed out her 2-year-old season with a runner-up finish to Varda when stretching out to 1 1/16 miles for the Grade 1 Starlet Stakes Dec. 5 at Los Alamitos.

Making her 3-year-old bow Jan. 3 in the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes, Kalypso opened a clear lead in early stretch as the 9-10 favorite and held a clear margin to the finish in a 1 ¾-length score to earn qualifying points toward the 2021 Longines Kentucky Oaks. Next out, she was second in the Grade 2 Las Virgenes Stakes on Feb. 6.

Kalypso spent the summer and fall of 2021 on the sidelines, and returned to the races with a 4 3/4-length victory in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita on Dec. 26.

In the spring of 2022, Kalypso was transferred from the Bob Baffert barn to the care of Steve Asmussen, and won the Memorial Day Sprint Stakes at Lone Star Park on May 30 in her second start for the new stable. 

Kalypso is out of the Malibu Moon mare Malibu Cove, a full-sister (same dam [mother], same sire [father]) to 2012 Tampa Bay Derby winner Prospective.
