Viadera (GB)

A Group 3-placed stakes winner in Europe, Viadera joined the barn of Chad Brown in the U.S. in 2020 and won the De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga Race Course July 17 in her second start in North America.  

The Bated Breath filly closed powerfully in her next start to reel in stablemate Blowout in the closing strides of the Grade 3 Noble Damsel Stakes Sept. 26 at Belmont Park. She completed one mile in 1:32.06 for her fourth win in as many starts at that distance.

One start later, Viadera and Blowout hooked up again in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar in California. And once again, the result was the same, as Viadera rallied late to edge Blowout by a nose in the one-mile turf race to post her second graded stakes win in a row and her first top-level victory.

Viadera made her 2021 debut in the Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 8. As the 11-10 favorite, she finished fourth, beaten 2 3/4 lengths. She rebounded smartly in her next start when she seized command in deep stretch of the Grade 2 Ballston Spa Stakes on the Aug. 28 Runhappy Travers Stakes undercard and then held off a late bid from High Opinion to prevail by a nose.
