Patrick Husbands grew up in Barbados and rode from a young age. He rode professionally in his home country before moving his tack to Canada, where he has had great success including winning the Canadian Triple Crown aboard Wando. He has been named Canadian champion jockey seven times.
Husbands won three Grade 1 races in 2001: the Atto Mile Stakes on Numerous Times, the Metropolitan Handicap aboard Exciting Story and the Selene Stakes on Dark Ending.
