Wildatlanticstorm rallied willingly to finish second in his career debut July 8, 2022, at Lone Star Park in a half-mile turf sprint. Trainer H. Ray Ashford Jr. moved him to the main track for his second race Aug. 5 at Prairie Meadows and he dominated in a 5 ½-furlong maiden race against  fellow Iowa-breds.

A step up in class for his third start proved no problem for Wildatlanticstorm as he led from start to finish in a 5 ½-length runaway victory in a three-quarter-mile allowance/optional claiming race Sept. 8 at Remington Park. Next up for Wildatlanticstorm was his stakes debut 2 ½ weeks later in the Kip Deville Stakes at the same track and distance and the Stormy Atlantic colt again set the pace before giving way late in a runner-up finish, beaten by 1 ¾ lengths, to Campfire Creed.

Wildatlanticstorm turned the tables on Campfire Creed in the Clever Trevor Stakes at seven furlong Oct. 28 at Remington Park, where this time he rallied from just off the pace on a sloppy track to beat his familiar foe by a nose in a thrilling finish.

The first step on the 2023 Kentucky Derby trail beckoned next for Wildatlanticstorm as he faced eight challengers in the $400,000 Remington Springboard Mile Stakes Dec. 17 at Remington Park, including highly regarded Giant Mischief, the 4-5 favorite, and Echo Again. Wildatlanticstorm got off to a terrific start and settled in nicely to stalk the pace from third at 15-1 odds behind pacesetter Echo Again. He darted through an opening along the rail under Leandro Goncalves to take command in the stretch and banked 10 Kentucky Derby qualifying points by holding off the late charge of Giant Mischief to prevail by 1 ¼ lengths.
