Verstappen is a long-distance specialist on turf and synthetic surfaces who recorded his first career stakes victory as a 4-year-old when he took the Grade 2 $350,000 Elkhorn Stakes going 1 1/2 miles on the grass at Keeneland on April 22, 2023. Verstappen closed from near the rear of an eight-horse field to get up by a head in a winning time of 2: 29.28 on a turf course rated good.

Verstappen broke his maiden as a 2-year-old in his fourth career start on Dec. 26, 2021, at Fair Grounds with a turf win at 1 1/18 miles. He also won back-to-back 1 1/4-mile races on the synthetic track at Turfway Park during the winter of 2022-23.

Verstappen is trained by Brandan Walsh, He was bred in Kentucky by the sire War Front out of the mare Andromeda Galaxy by Peintre Celebre.
