Slammed

Slammed has dominated filly sprinters in 2021 and 2022 for trainer Todd Fincher while racing up and down the New Mexico circuit, with victories at Sunland Park, Zia Park, Albuquerque, Ruidoso, and Sun Ray Park. Her New Mexico victories included state-bred stakes wins in races like the La Coneja Stakes at Sunland, the Peppers Pride New Mexico Classic Cup Championship Fillies and Mares Stakes at Zia, the Petticoat and Carlos Salazar Stakes at Albuquerque, and the Sierra Starlet Stakes at Ruidoso.

She left New Mexico for the first time to face allowance-optional claiming competition at Del Mar on July 28, 2022, and promptly blew away the field at six furlongs to win by 5 ½ lengths in wire-to-wire fashion. That win propelled her into graded stakes competition of the first time in the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap on Aug. 28, when she dueled for the lead and held on for second, beaten a half a length by Edgeway at 6 ½ furlongs.

Slammed made her next start in the $350,000 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes Oct. 8 at Keeneland and led every step of the way in a runaway 6 1/2-length victory in the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series “Win and You’re In” race for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. The Grade 2 TCA Stakes was just her second start in a graded stakes race and her first graded win.

Slammed was bred in New Mexico out of Hennesy Smash, by Roll Hennessey Roll. Hennesy Smash was a multiple stakes winner of more than $250,000 during her racing career.
