Secret Money

Secret Money, a Good Samaritan filly trained by Brendan Walsh, finished fourth in her debut sprinting five furlongs on turf at Gulfstream Park in early April 2023 but returned at the end of the month to win a similar race at Keeneland by three-quarters of a length. She then shipped to Churchill Downs and took a 5 ½-furlong turf allowance by a length to improve to 2-for-3 in her young career.

Next up, Walsh entered Secret Money in the listed Alywow Stakes at Woodbine, and she finished a solid fifth, beaten by only 1 ½ lengths despite being blocked in the stretch, in the 6 ½-furlong turf race. She then extended to a mile and made her graded stakes debut in the Grade 3 Lake George Stakes at Saratoga on July 21, and set the early pace before tiring in deep stretch to finish third by a length.

Shortened up for another graded stakes try in the Sept. 2 Big Ass Fans Music City Stakes at Kentucky Downs, Secret Money sat in midpack and then split horses in midstretch to score a breakthrough one-length win under first-time rider Tyler Gaffalione.

Secret Money is out of the Grade 1-winning Distorted Humor mare Awesome Humor, who has also produced stakes winner Thetrashmanscoming and two stakes-placed horses.
