Honey Pants

Honey Pants broke through in career start no. 22 to earn her first graded stakes victory on Jan. 14, 2024, with a rallying win in the Grade 3 Las Cienegas Stakes on Santa Anita Park’s downhill turf course.

The Cairo Prince mare began her career on the East Coast and won two of 18 starts for trainer Christophe Clement, along with four second-place finishes and one third-place finish in stakes, before moving to trainer Phil D’Amato’s barn in California during spring 2023. She made four starts for D’Amato with a runner-up effort in a listed stakes before her breakthrough in the Las Cienegas, which came at 19.20-1 odds with Frankie Dettori aboard. Honey Pants rallied along the inside despite Dettori losing his whip and edged stablemate and even-money favorite Elm Drive by a head at the finish of the 6 ½-furlong race.

Kentucky-bred Honey Pants is out of the winning Afternoon Deelites mare Queens Carousel and is a half-sister to stakes winner King Henny and to the dam of Grade 1 winner One in Vermillion.
