Courvoisier, a Tapit colt out of champion Take Charge Brandi, finished third in his debut Sept. 6, 2021, at Monmouth Park and then posted two close runner-up finishes in his next two starts, both at Delaware Park. He broke through with a neck score on Dec. 2 at Aqueduct on Dec. 2 to earn his first victory.

He broke through with a neck score on Dec. 2 at Aqueduct on Dec. 2 to earn his first victory.
Trainer Kelly Breen then pointed Courvoisier to the one-mile Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct on New Year’s Day 2022, and the colt tracked the early pace set by Hagler and drew clear late to win by 1 ¼ lengths on a sloppy track in the fog. He earned 10 qualifying points for the 2022 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve with the win. In his next start, Courvoisier finished a disappointing seventh in the Withers Stakes.
John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale co-bred Courvoisier, and co-owns him with James Spry. Take Charge Brandi won the 2014 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies and received the Eclipse Award as champion juvenile filly for that year.
