Coinage made the first three starts of his career on the main track, winning a June 2021 maiden special weight race for New York-breds by 7 ¾ length and running third in his other two starts on dirt, including the Rick Violette Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
In his fourth race, Coinage was switched to the turf and asked to stretch out in distance to 1 1/16 miles for his graded stakes debut Sept. 1 in the $150,000 With Anticipation Stakes. The Tapit colt responded with a front-running, two-length win under Junior Alvarado in the Grade 3 race.

After a third-place finish in his 3-year-old debut, the Grade 3 Kitten's Joy Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 5, 2022, Coinage bounced back with a neck victory in the Palm Beach Stakes at the Hallandale Beach, Fla. oval on Mar. 5.
Coinage is out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Bar of Gold, winner of the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.
