Air Force Red

Air Force Red is a bay ridgling trained by Leonard Powel and bred in Kentucky by the sire Air Force Blue out of the mare Mesana by Mizzen Mast.  Air Force Red made 10 starts as a 4-year-old in 2022 and earned five wins at distances between 6 1/2 furlongs and one mile.

Air Force Red became a stakes winner for the first time with a victory in the restricted $89,000 Lure Stakes going a mile on the turf at Santa Anita on Oct. 29.  Four of Air Force Red's five career wins have come at Santa Anita at the turf sprint distance of 6 1/2 furlongs and he has become somewhat of a specialist at that trip. Air Force Red won the Grade 2 $250,000 Joe Hernandez Stakes on the downhill turf course at Santa Anita on Dec. 31 by 1 3/4 lengths, going the 6 1/2 furlongs wire-to-wire in a time of 1:11.53.
